Jute Netting

This is a net made of jute that is laid and anchored over straw or other mulch to protect the mulch from wind and water damage. It reduces soil erosion and provides a good environment for vegetative regrowth. Jute is a biodegradable material that will eventually decompose and is not a threat to the environment.

Jute Netting Specifications

When is it used? This practice is often used on areas that may erode near structures such as homes, roads, and bridges. It is used on small, steep, disturbed areas. Jute can also be applied alone (without mulch) as an alternativeto straw or wood mulches on flat sites for dust control and seed germination enhancement. It should not be used alone where runoff quantities are expected to be high. The use of jute is not appropriate in all situations. Examples of when jute netting may not be appropriate include:

• Steep slopes with sandy soils
• Steep slopes with many rocks on the surface
• Steep slopes with a significant amount of fire burned vegetation remaining

Premier Straw Blankets

Premier Straw erosion control blankets are designed to provide temporary protection for grass seed and topsoil during the germination and progressive revegetation and root system development stages. Premier Straw blankets, are made from the finest quality agricultural straw fibers available. Straw fibers shall be made into blanket form and stitched to a single net on top or netting on top and bottom. Avariety of netting types are available to meet specific job site requirements. Premier Straw blankets are certified weed seed free.

AEC Premier blanket manufacturing process starts with choosing only top quality, organic, weed seed free, agricultural straw fibers.Asingle or double net is then stitched to the topside or both sides of the blanket.
A variety of nettings are available depending on your project requirements. We offer a green color-coded plastic netting for applications requiring UV resistance, strength, and longevity. Our photodegradable QuickMow™ netting is recommended for urban use and is a very popular choice on certain roadside projects. It is color-coded white to identify it as a rapidbreakdown, polypropylene netting designed for use in areas to be mowed. Also available is our FibreNet™ - 100% biodegradable netting - for use in critical environmentally sensitive areas.

Premier Straw | Coconut Blankets

Premier Straw/Coconut and Premier Coconut ECBs are pc_straw_5degradable ECBs consisting of the finest weed seed free agricultural straw fibers and the highest quality strands of coconut fiber. By adding 30% coconut fibers to the AEC Premier Straw ECB, the straw/coconut blend of fibers can extend the degradable life up to 24 months depending on job site conditions. The Coconut ECB can provide longer erosion protection life up to 36 months depending on job site conditions. Lightweight and easy to handle, you can rely on AEC Premier Straw/Coconut blend and AEC Premier Coconut ECBs to provide a high degree of erosion protection and longer life than single or double net straw ECBs. AEC Premier ECBs are available individually wrapped or in master packs to allow for mechanical unloading and stacking.

Coconut Blankets

AEC Premier Straw/Coconut blend and AEC Premier Coconut ECBs are designed for mid to long-term erosion protection and vegetation establishment on slopes, channels, and shorelines. AEC Premier Straw/Coconut ECB combines 70% straw with 30% coconut to create a longer life ECB than standard AEC Premier Straw® ECBs. The AEC Premier Coconut ECB will provide a longer life, degradable ECB for severe applications or where special grasses need long-term protection. Both of these Premier products have longer duration photodegradable, UV enhanced nettings on both sides. Our FibreNet™- 100% jute netting - is available for environmentally sensitive areas while maintaining performance standards.

Coconut Blankets

AEC Premier Coconut blanket, as manufactured by American Excelsior Company, shall be made from the finest quality strands of coconut fiber. AEC Premier Coconut shall be comprised of coconut fiber. The coconut fiber shall be evenly distributed in blanket form and stitched to top and bottom heavy duty UV enhanced black nettings. The blanket performance shall be supported by an ASTM protocol test result.

Curlex Excelsior Blankets

Curlex blankets consist of unique softly barbed, interlocking, curled, Aspen excelsior fibers. They are naturally seed free. Curlex blankets are available with a variety of environmentally sensitive and/or stronger netting types to match job site requirements. We offer a green color-coded plastic netting for applications requiring UV resistance, strength, and longevity. Our photo-degradable Quick Mow™ netting is recommended for urban, golf course, and certain roadside projects. It is color-coded (white) to identify it as a rapid breakdown, polypropylene netting designed for use in areas to be mowed. Also available is our FibreNet™ - 100% biodegradable netting - for use in critical environmentally sensitive areas.

Curlex Excelsior Blankets

Most straight-line fiber blankets draw the line at 270 g/m² (.50 lb/yd²), but not Curlex. At just under 400 g/m2 (.75 lb/yd²), Curlex blankets bring 50% more erosion control fibers to your job site. Curlex blankets are available in natural Aspen or QuickGRASS® (green). Combine that with a roll that is wider than conventional blankets and you have today's most effective and efficient multi-purpose biodegradable erosion control blanket. Curlex excelsior blankets are available individually wrapped or in master packs to allow for mechanical unloading and stacking.
